TETRAHYMENA!

Post by Admin on Thu Aug 11, 2011 1:21 am

Note the `movement` in these Tetrahymena clips ? it reminds me of the Fairground Dodgems and the Pyriform shape is `Hedgehog` like with a snout type proboscis.

Conjugation is also shown in the clip where the Ciliates join together to exchange nuclear material and replicate.

Corlissi is the worse offender and cause of `Guppy` Disease Alan http://www.merckvetmanual.com/mvm/index.jsp?cfile=htm/bc/170410.htm but epizootics can occur if numbers proliferate > http://www.fish-photography.info/basic-fishkeeping-info-pages/protozoa-infections.htm

I have only scoped quantities of them from dead or dying fish...
