Post by Admin on Fri Jun 24, 2011 8:48 pm

Since moving the Goldfish outside .. their tank mate my Tropical Silver Dollar became miserable due to his schooling needs Sad

A Solution was called for scratch

Take the WLP the G-Fish are in up to 24+C and add him too it Very Happy

Being Herbivorous the B-Weed and Lilies are taking a beating ... but paying him back in spades with a PH of 10 affraid until I stopped all the AIR.

Al advised similarly Han ... and I know they should be kept in shoals Sweetie Smile

He and several other `Tropical`fish (the tetra`s) were foisted upon me by F-Born Rolling Eyes

I would never deliberately `MIX` Tropical phish with cold water species No or advise any Member to do so similarly !

He instinctively somehow took a shine to and `Bonded` with the Goldies whilst they occupied his tank and was miserable without them .... AND why I heated up the `Tropical` WLP so that he could be with his Tank Mate Buddies Smile

Water Quality is imperative now given his doubling in size so I`m reluctant to add companions YET ? but will consider doing so IF it will make him Happier Very Happy

He has now eaten `ALL` but 2 of the original 15 Plants plus 10% of the new arrivals Rolling Eyes

Keeping his Outdoor WLP Tropical has contributed significantly to the £997 Summer electricity bill I suspect ...

As mentioned in a previous post re the `Silver Dollar`and Tetra`s ... I would NOT have deliberately mixed Tropical Fish with cold water species had these not be Foisted upon me by F-Born ....

Tropical phish are much more aggressive than Goldies /Koi etc so should not be combined ideally BUT the Silver Dollar being a non aggressive type bonded quite happily with the Goldfish who comprise Shubunkin/Comet and regular Goldfish...

The Silver tipped Tetra has had to be segregated via a partition due to his terrorizing the other two Tetra`s because he has already killed ALL his Siblings Twisted Evil

Silver Dollars Plant Fest has continued forcing me to place some of them behind the partittion or I will be buying them every Week Rolling Eyes

Well Rolling Eyes since retrieving what remained of the 65 `Plants` and placing them behind the Partition where `Silver Tipped Tetra` has been relegated due to his continuous aggression toward the two other Tetra >

http://www.tropicalfishandaquariums.com/Tetras/SilverTipTetra.asp

Silver Dollar hovers around said partition knowing the `Plants` are behind it and has begun refusing pelleted or flake food Sad

On the Upside (if there is one in this scenario Rolling Eyes ) the two other Tetra`s are `Happier` minus the `Silver Tipped Tetra now partitioned off than they have EVER been ... and He too prefers the shading the Plant`s Provide secluded behind said Tank Divider ... Very Happy

More Silver Dollars might be required to assuage his current misery Sad Sad since losing his Tropical WLP Goldfishy Friends ... plus perhaps some plant type phood inclusion such as `Algae Wafers` possibly Rolling Eyes

PHISH Hey ... Who`d have em Laughing

The 65 Tropical Plants added to the Silver Dollar Tank have ALL been consumed and brought a few friends with them ...

Snails ..........................who refused to leave the corner of the tank partitioned off until I removed said partition ....

Note how clean the glass in that section of the tank is compared with the rest Very Happy

Now that the Bulrushes are shooting up .. the KH Values (despite torrential rainfall) have not budged in the WLP .. suggesting little to zero Bio-Filtration is occurring in there Very Happy
